Whilst researching about the PROVOKE magazine, I interestingly came across the LIVE MATCH 506070 1.
The LIVE MATCH 506070 1 was a book that was produced in a book-making performance held in Amsterdam. The photo book includes a range of contemporary Japanese photographers such as: Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Daido Moriyama and Shuji Terayama, Yutaka Takanashi, Takuma Nakahira and many more. The book includes all of the PROVOKE photographers and they have a dedicated page of their photography. I was really fascinated with the LIVE MATCH 506070 book, it was very interesting to see the correlation of not only Japanese photography but also artistic propaganda and emotive portraiture. Each page had a text and the next page would be something entirely different yet it tells a sort of story. |

Daido Moriyama is a Japanese contemporary photographer, well known for his photographs of the fragmentation of the traditional Japanese post-war. Moriyama was also a featuring photographer in the second issue of the PROVOKE. His relationship with photography was really inspirational to my photography documentation as I watched his short film with TATE (The Youtube clip below). Furthermore, I also read about his book "Sashin yo Sayonara" (Bye Bye/Farewell Photography), which included a series of his 'happy accidents' of distorted photographs, broken film, exposed photographs and damaged photographs. He did this in response to ending his photography career, which I found very intriguing as I have always thrown away my failures if I made any.
